Objectives and Mission

The statutory objective of Make Eindhoven is to support and stimulate activities related to artistic production, research, and experimentation. We do this by offering guidance, space, knowledge, and facilities for research and experimentation to creative makers from both the cultural sector and the business community. In addition, we provide access to knowledge and facilities for participants in educational projects at vocational (MBO), higher professional (HBO), and university level.

We encourage research into the potential recycling and upcycling of the materials used, thereby serving the public interest. We take a broad view of our environment and actively collaborate within it. This includes cooperation with institutions with similar activity profiles, as well as related organisations. Ultimately, we aim to position ourselves as an open-source knowledge centre.

Make Eindhoven sees its mission as promoting innovation in art and design by encouraging creative makers to explore new directions. Sustainability, recycling, and upcycling are key values in this regard. Where possible, we also implement policies aligned with the Code for Cultural Diversity. Our workshops are accessible to everyone, and we actively collaborate with various educational institutions, allowing a broad and culturally diverse group of young people to become acquainted with the possibilities of printmaking, glass, ceramics, plastics, and metal. As a recognised training company, we also offer internship positions to students of vocational programmes.

Code for Cultural Governance

Make Eindhoven endorses the eight principles and recommendations set out in the Code for Cultural Governance. These have been formally established in, and are applied in accordance with, the articles of association and the board and management regulations dated 31 December 2014.

1. Governance by Board and Management
2. Oversight by the board over the management and internally within the board
3. Accountability internally by the management to the board and within the board itself, and externally through the annual report

In our compensation policy for the period 2021–2024, we aim to follow the guidelines for job classification and salary structures for small and medium-sized visual arts presentation institutions.

The board serves entirely on an unpaid basis.
