Mezzotint or ‘Black Art’ is an intaglio printing technique. It had its heyday in the 17th and 18th centuries. It’s the first graphic technique that applied (gray) tones and was used for making reproductions and portraits. Due to its complexity, Mezzotint began to lose popularity with the rise of photography.

We organize a 3-day Mezzotint workshop under the guidance of Sjoerd Tegelaers. During the workshop you will learn how to roughen a copper plate and how to make an image in the resulting black plate. Afterwards you will not only have your own print but also a lot of knowledge and experience about the technique.

Dates: 16, 23 and 24 May 2024
Costs: €330.00 (incl. VAT and materials)
Availability: maximum of 6 participants

The workshop is for professional makers only. Tools are provided.
